George Eliot Hospital’s Bob Jakin Ward held a tea party last week to support Dementia Awareness Week and help raise awareness of this condition.
Patients, carers, staff and visitors were invited to the event to find out more about the specialist treatment provided by the team on Bob Jakin who look after elderly patients, including those with Dementia.
The team had baked cakes and served refreshments during the awareness event which showcased just a few of the ways George Eliot Hospital staff are working together to improve patient care for those living with dementia.
Bob Jakin Ward day room includes a piano and other social activities to help patients with Dementia during their time at the hospital.
Director of Nursing, Michelle Norton said: “Raising awareness about Dementia is extremely important and our dedicated team in Bob Jakin work hard to support patients with this condition.”
“Our patients enjoy this type of event as it makes our patients feel more at home during their stay and to take time from the ward environment.” Further information services at the George Eliot Hospital can be found on www.geh.nhs.uk
