Two new state of the art Siemens CT scanners arrived at the George Eliot Hospital and were installed in a new specially designed area within the Diagnostic Imaging department.
Radiology staff will start their applications training with the new equipment this week following final physics tests.
Special viewing screens have also been installed in the purpose built area to improve the privacy for patients. Funding from the local League of Friends has supported these new opaque/clear screens in the CT scanning rooms.
New CT scanning staff are also being recruited to support this additional equipment which will significantly increase the scanning capacity at the George Eliot.
The scanners will operational for patient scans from mid January. Additional capacity is anticipated from February following the recruitment and training of additional radiographers.
