It really has been the most wonderful time of the year for the first new parents of Christmas Day at the George Eliot Hospital Maternity Unit.
Faye Bassford from Fazeley in Tamworth was the first new mum of the day at the maternity unit. Only one baby was born during Christmas morning this year.
Baby Harper Rose arrived early at 2:20am. Faye, was proud to receive her perfect present on this special day who arrived just in time to celebrate Christmas.
Baby Harper weighed a very healthy 7lb 11oz and looked very content already.
Proud mum Faye said: “Harper was born in the early hours and we can't wait to show off our little star. My sister Lucy (18) was at the birth with me and my partner has everything ready for when we go home.”
New dad Oli Beasley said "We have been up all night but can't wait to take her home and show her off to our families who are visiting the maternity unit in between their Christmas lunches."
The kind midwives have knitted beautiful little festive hats for each of the Christmas babies and also provided little treat bags for each of the mums.
This time next year these little ones will be rockin’ around the Christmas tree, but for now the new parents will be hoping for a quiet end to their festive season.
Everyone at the maternity unit wishes all new arrivals today joy and good will and a happy new year.
