We held our AGM last week and I am really pleased to say we had a good turnout. Many Hospital AGM’s attract very little interest but since I have been here each AGM has been well attended, which is a reflection of the importance local communities place on the Hospital and its services.
At the AGM I gave a presentation which looked back over the last couple of years and reflected on how far the organisation has actually come. We have invested in excess of £3M in our new Acute Medical Unit and Ambulatory Care Unit and we have taken significant strides toward seven day working. We have had major capital upgrades throughout the Hospital and against a whole array of indicators the quality of services we are delivering is really good. But perhaps more important than these indicators, when you walk around the Hospital it feels calm and controlled with good staff morale.
Looking to next week we should get notification of the hard work that has been undertaken by all the staff since we were put into Special Measures. We are hopeful of a positive outcome however we will use next week’s announcement as a staging post to continue our journey of improvements for the good of our local community.
