George Eliot Hospital played a thrilling friendly match against Barnsley Allstars earlier this month to help raise money to support the fund set up in memory of Morgan Hehir.
The exciting match was an outstanding victory for the homeside with a score of 2:1. Goal scorers were the brilliant James Ryan and Aiden Barnes in the first half and Ben Greenoft from Barnsley in the second half.
Everyone who played or supported the match deserved a big thank you for supporting the event, held at Bermuda Pheonix Centre on Sunday 4th September. The organisers including Paul Ashton from Theatres and James Taylor from the Physiotherapy Service did an excellent job making sure the event was a success.
George Eliot Hospital Fundraising Co-ordinator, Jean Whittaker said:”I would like to thank everyone from the George Eliot and our visitors from Barnsley who came all this way to support the match.
“The money raised will help to buy equipment for the Day Procedures Unit where Morgan was a popular member of the team.”
The players are also making a donation to support local charity Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice.
