Breast Care Team ‘Walk and Talk’ grows in Riversley Park – Every Tuesday 1.30pm to 2.30pm

Breast Care Team Walk and Talk Jan 16

George Eliot Hospital Breast Care Team regular walking group  ‘Walk & Talk’, launched last year to share breast cancer advice and experiences, is proving popular.

This group of past and present breast cancer patients from the George Eliot Hospital meet in Riversley Park, Nuneaton every Tuesday. The growing group have an opportunity to talk to members of the Breast Care Team in this informal setting about issues that affected their own personal situations and make new friends.

Everyone enjoys having an opportunity to listen to the experiences of others and ask specific questions to specialist nurses Annette, Alison, Julie and Claire.

Breast Care Nursing Specialists host their walking group in Riversley Park, Nuneaton between 1.30pm and 2.30pm every week. The group meet just outside the Nuneaton and Bedworth Museum. Following the launch in September last year other cancer patients have also occasionally joined the group.

The George Eliot Hospital Breast Care team know that talking about breast cancer with their specialist team and other patients can make breast cancer patients feel more confident and better supported. They want to encourage everyone that has experienced Breast Cancer to come along to future walks.  Exercise and keeping fit can have a positive effect on the health and wellbeing of everyone.

Breast Care Nurse, Annette Tracey said: "Everyone who attends have an opportunity to meet others going through the same situation and we encourage anyone who has had breast cancer to come along when they have time”.

Macmillan Oncology Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist, Alison Syborn added: “We have had some lovely feedback from the group saying they have made new friends and that it has given them something to look forward to each week.”
