Baby to be named after midwife at George Eliot

Baby Roxy

New mum Andrea Parker was so impressed by the care that she received at the George Eliot Hospital Maternity Unit that she is naming her baby daughter after the Midwife who helped her at the hospital.

Midwife Roxanne Rowland helped to ensure the delivery Andrea’s new baby on the 2nd April after she identified that an emergency Caesarian Section was required. Baby was safely delivered and weighed a very healthy 10lb 2 ½ oz.

The proud parents have now returned to their home in Stockingford with their lovely new daughter and wanted to thank the staff within the Maternity Unit for their help and support. They loved Roxanne’s name so much that they are using this for her name.

Andrea said: “Roxy identified that I needed a caesarean when I arrived at the George Eliot and helped to make the birth as comfortable as possible.

“Roxanne came in to visit me the night after the birth and went the extra mile to provide us with regular updates. She also came with me when I saw my baby for the first time after her birth.”

“I would like to thank all of the staff at the maternity unit but especially wanted to thank Roxanne and her colleague Emma who both provided an excellent service before, during and after my baby was born.

Midwife, Roxanne Rowland said: “Andrea was a pleasure to look after and I thought it was a lovely gesture to name their baby after me.”
