Local charity Sophia Pregnancy Loss Support Group recently visited the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust’s maternity department to donate a cuddle cot and other items especially for the bereavement suite.

A cuddle cot is a cooling system which provides grieving families extra precious time with their baby. It is the second Cuddle cot the department has, the first was donated in 2017 by the 4Louis charity.  The new cot donated by the Sophia group is fully portable which means families are be able to take their babies home.

Whilst visiting the hospital the group were also presented with a certificate of thanks for all of their fundraising support that they have given to the hospital.

Maternity Matron, Lydia Thomas, said: ‘We’re really grateful to the Sophia group for their ongoing support and for the cuddle cot donation. This will help to make such a difference to bereaved families especially as they will be able to take their babies home with them. Cuddle cots can help parents during one of the most difficult times of their lives.”
