Following their kind donation of over £2,700 to the George Eliot Hospital earlier this year, work has now started by members of the management team at Asda to support the refurbishment of one of the hospital’s biggest courtyards.
Store Manager Gary Brown and Deputy Store Manager John Cortez donned their cleaning clothes alongside Community Colleague Melissa Hutchinson to jet wash the courtyard’s slabs ready for reshaping and re-siting as part of the new design. Once complete it will be opened up for the benefit of patients, staff and visitors to use as an outdoor space offering peace, tranquillity and time for reflection from the daily buzz of hospital life.
Doreen Sadler, Membership and Engagement Manager at the trust said “The commitment and support ASDA have shown to date has been amazing in helping us as a hospital to improve the environment for patients, staff and visitors alike. Other volunteers from the community have been helping with our ‘DIY SOS’ type refurbishment and we would welcome any extra volunteers.”
