Archbishop of Canterbury visits GEH

George Eliot Hospital welcomed The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby for a visit on May 4.

During his hour and a half long stay the Archbishop met with the hospital’s Chaplaincy Team and spent time with the Sophia Pregnancy Loss Support Group whose members with the hospital in supporting bereaved parents. He also met staff and patients in the hospital’s Maternity Department, Special Care Baby Unit and A&E service.

George Eliot Hospital Non–Executive Director, Julie Houlder said:  “Our patients and staff were honoured to welcome Archbishop Justin to George Eliot Hospital and we thank him for including the hospital in his busy schedule of events. Our teams do so much to help bereaved parents and his visit has given patients and staff great support and comfort.”

The visit to the hospital was part of the Archbishop’s tour of Coventry and Warwickshire running until 5 May to mark the 100 anniversary of the Coventry Diocese.
