May

  • Trust launches a new customer care training course in partnership with North Warwickshire and Hinckley College.

September

  • Trust launches a new strategy aimed at improving patient experience. The ‘Best Care, Best Outcome’ patient experience strategy aims to pull together a range of methods already in place to measure patient satisfaction into one streamlined initiative. It will focus specifically on areas of concern raised by patients in relation to the services provided by the hospital and aim to build on areas of best practice locally and nationally, building a culture of continuous improvement.

October

  • For the first time since records began, the Trust goes a whole calendar month without reporting a case of hospital acquired C diff.

  • The Trust is ahead of the game in introducing a new screening process for all MRSA for all emergency patients. This is three months ahead of the Department of Health deadline.

  • Trust starts on a programme of major theatre upgrades.

December

  • The Trust celebrates 44 days without a case of hospital acquired C diff, the longest run since records began.

  • The SHA leads a risk summit at the hospital in response to the Trust’s high mortality rates. While certain areas were identified for improvement, overall, the review was extremely positive and the Trust was praised for the service it provides.
